Dorman a native Texan is the son of Bruce and Hazel Dorman.I began playing
guitar at the age of 9 years old. I could have started two years earlier,
my parents gave me a choice between a Roy Rogers guitar and a Superman
suit... well I decided to fly around the house.
My first electric guitar was a Kay that my parents bought me from a
pawn-shop for $40.00. It wasn't great but it was all mine and I loved it.
During my high school years I got a Gibson ES-335. That guitar played like
melted butter! It carried me through several local groups and a year at
North Texas State University.
I then had the great fortune of meeting a true gentleman by the name of
Roy Clark who invited my family to Nashville to watch them record Hee Haw.
I liked Nashville so much I stayed and got a gig with a band called the
Brass Monkey. A few years and bands later I did a session that Kenny
Rogers was producing and shortly there after was hired. That was in
September of 1977. |
